Mary Douglas: Making it easier for people to 'change gender' is "very harmful"

Mary Douglas from Grassroots Conservatives speaks to BBC Radio Scotland about the government's proposals to allow people to 'change gender' without any medical diagnosis.

"I am really unclear about why anyone would want to make it easier to do something as radical and counter-intuitive as changing gender.

"When you have a mismatch between your mind, how you think about yourself, and your body - the question is, which do you change?"
