Abort67, the prolife group, set up one if its displays yesterday outside the Department of Health. Abort67's displays educate the public about the violent reality of abortion by showing pictures of what abortion does to unborn children. After becoming aware of the display Downing Street asked police to go over and investigate.

A new report by a group of MPs has revealed that almost half of those teaching Religious Education (RE) in secondary schools have no qualifications in the subject.

The arguments advanced for the Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Bill are based on one claim. That claim is that feelings of being discriminated against for homosexual behaviour must determine what everyone else is allowed to do. So the law must be used to suppress the traditional understanding of marriage — that it is between a man and a woman, especially for the benefit of children — because that makes homosexual people feel excluded.

The US Supreme Court will this week hear cases challenging the constitutionality of California's Proposition 8 amendment and the federal Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA).
