'Designer baby debate' should begin say scientists

Printer-friendly version

The BBC has reported calls by scientists working on DNA modification techniques, for a wider debate about the future direction, challenges and wider implications of such work.

The website article quotes Dr Tony Perry, who was involved in cloning the first mice and pigs, and Prof Robin Lovell-Badge, who has been involved in the debate around 'three parent babies'. It also reports that the Nuffield Council on Bioethics is believed to be considering a report on related issues.
