Britain's National Sperm Bank which opened in October 2014 and received £77,000 in government funding, has so far secured only five donors, it was revealed this week.

Testing procedures mean that only one in twenty potential donors are ultimately accepted. Speaking in October, Andrea Williams explained that the creation of a National Sperm Bank with the criteria that it has involves "the approval of the breaking of the natural family."
