Scientists warn against 'designer babies'

Printer-friendly version

Scientists have called for a moratorium on the use of new 'gene-editing' techniques to create babies.

When coupled with IVF, the methodologies would involve alteration to the human germ-line, meaning that changes would be passed down the generations. Andrea Williams commented, "Every human being is created in God’s image and precious to Him, and to attempt to ‘play God’ runs the risk of damaging children’s lives while testing out scientific innovations."
