Government responds to concerns over new regulations for schools

Printer-friendly version

The Department for Education has published its response to its earlier public consultation on new Independent Schools Standards. The document notes the depth of concern raised about the requirement to 'actively promote' British values and the potential for schools to be forced to promote other religions, or a particular viewpoint on sexual ethics. Sadly, however, such concerns are dismissed as being founded on 'misconceptions' of what the standards actually require.
