Bill to improve access to end of life care

A bill to improve access to end of life care has its second reading in the House of Lords next Friday (23 Oct).
Baroness Finlay, who is a palliative care doctor, introduced the bill in the hope that it will ultimately help to address the failings of a system that "has the knowledge of what needs to be done but fails to make it happen." Following last month's defeat of Rob Marris' assisted suicide bill, a cross-party group of 60 MPs called for increased funding for end of life care.
