Isle of Man votes against assisted suicide

Printer-friendly version

Politicians on the Isle of Man have voted strongly against a Private Member's Bill, which called for the legalisation of assisted suicide.

Members of the House of Keys voted 17 to 5 to reject the call put forward by the Minister for Home Affairs, Juan Watterson. In December, members of the National Assembly for Wales also voted against a motion backing assisted suicide but a bill is currently being considered in Scotland and a campaign continues at Westminster.
