New plans threaten Christian preachers

Printer-friendly version

Christian ministers could be required to enrol in a "national register of faith leaders" and undergo government training and security checks, according to leaked Home Office plans.

The proposals are part of the government's action against extremism and involve registration by religious leaders. "Islamic radicalisation must be tackled but the government is overreaching itself with these plans, which are likely to penalise gospel ministers," said Andrea Williams.
