Labour would toughen 'Islamophobia' laws

Printer-friendly version

Ed Miliband says that a Labour government would further tighten restrictions designed to combat “Islamophobia”.

Miliband told Muslim News that his party is “committed to breaking down barriers of discrimination” but he failed to define what constitutes “Islamophobia”. Constraints surrounding such vaguely defined terms jeopardise freedom of speech. Labour has also said that it would increase penalties for 'transphobic' and 'homophobic' hate crimes.
