Cross to remain in crematorium

A Lancashire council has reversed a plan to remove a large wooden cross from a local crematorium. Reports this week indicated that the cross, which had hung at Accrington Crematorium for over 50 years, was to be removed for fear of offending non-Christians.

Following criticism of the proposal, the cross will remain and only be taken down if specifically requested by a family. "The cross gives hope by reminding us that Jesus overcame death," Andrea Williams commented.
