Isle of Man to legalise same-sex 'marriage'

Printer-friendly version

The Isle of Man has this week approved plans to legalise same-sex 'marriage'. The Marriage and Civil Partnership (Amendment) Bill passed its third reading in the Legislative Council on Wednesday, with six members voting in favour of the bill and three against.

The bill now awaits Royal Assent before going into effect, probably in June or July 2016. Northern Ireland is the only remaining part of the United Kingdom with no plans to redefine marriage.
