Scrutiny of government's 'extremism' plans

The Joint Committee for Human Rights (JCHR) has launched a "sharply focused inquiry" into the government's 'counter-extremism' plans, ahead of the introduction of the Counter-Extremism Bill.
In a letter to the home secretary, the JCHR Chair told Theresa May that the committee would scrutinise the plans "in light of the requirements of human rights law". Christian Concern and other groups have long warned of the dangers of the government's approach.
