EU 'sexual-orientation' agenda challenged

Printer-friendly version

The Director of Core Issues TrustDr Mike Davidson (pictured), has sought to challenge the EU's 'sexual orientation' agenda at a high-level conference in Brussels.

The event's agenda was significantly shaped by the results of an LGBTI survey carried out by the EU's Fundamental Rights Agency (FRA).

But as Mike sought to underline at the event, the survey's methodology is highly problematic, leading him to conclude that "the current data set is unacceptable as a basis of policy and strategy."

Declaring it to be more of a "political petition from a self-selecting population" than a robust survey, he drew attention to inherent problems in auditing whether the responses were unique or representative.

He also used the opportunity to highlight the discrimination experienced by those who face unwanted same-sex attraction and do not wish to embrace a same-sex 'identity'.

Speaking after the event, Mike said: "Money and policy across the EU will follow the agenda set at events such as this one. It is therefore vital that this deceptive approach to data collection is exposed in this forum."
