New documentary on same sex attraction

Printer-friendly version

A documentary entitled “Understanding Same Sex attraction” with personal stories, testimonies of experts and summaries of research into factors contributing to homosexuality, has been produced by Family Watch International (FWI).

FWI is a non-profit organisation promoting the family based on marriage between a man and a woman as the “societal unit that provides the best outcome” for men, women and children.

“This documentary was created out of great love and concern for those who struggle with same sex attraction”, said President of the FWI, Sharon Slater.

The USA based organisation makes clear that it promotes “compassionate support” for those struggling with homosexual tendencies, saying further that it “condemns violence against any person based on sexual orientation and gender identity”.

New Bill

The documentary comes amid the introduction of MP Geraint Davies’ Counsellors and Psychotherapists (Regulation) Bill in the UK, which seeks to outlaw therapies helping men and women who want to change unwanted feelings for their own gender.

Dr Mike Davidson, Director of Core Issues Trust, a Christian charity which represents ex and post-gay people who do not want to conform to a homosexual lifestyle, has been quoted by Life Site News as describing the Bill as a “Stalinist” style effort to marginalise any opposing professional opinion on the issue.

“The scientific literature is clear,” he said, “that some people can reduce these feelings and live in celibacy if that is their choice. For others it is possible to eliminate the feelings. We think that is a reasonable choice and we are concerned that in the UK the assumption is that such practices are intrinsically harmful.”
