Wilberforce Publications launches Bishop Michael Nazir-Ali's latest book

Printer-friendly version

Bishop Michael Nazir-Ali launched his latest book this past Monday, at the Carlton Club, St. James' Street.

In Faith, Freedom & the Future: Challenges for the 21st Century, published by Wilberforce Publications, Bishop Michael discusses how we as believers can respond to the various challenges facing us today.

The event, supported by Christian Concern, was well-attended by politicians, campaigners and church leaders, including prominent Christian campaigner

Alan Craig and Rev. Andrew Symes of Anglican Mainstream.

After a short introduction by John Scriven of Wilberforce Publications, Bishop Michael discussed the book’s premise.

Opportunity was then given for attendees to ask questions.

Commenting on the launch, Alan Craig said:

“Bishop Michael was on excellent form at the book launch at the Conservative Party's august watering hole, the Carlton Club, where his prophetic insight, breadth of understanding and wisdom were on display in abundance. It is always stimulating to hear his perspective.

“Listen to his talks, read his articles, buy his books and sit at his feet: it is always worth the investment of your time and effort.”

Faith, Freedom & the Future: Challenges for the 21st Century is available to purchase from £6.95 on Kindle or Paperback.

About the book

Faith, Freedom & The Future; Challenges for the 21st Century insightfully covers a range of pertinent issues that ultimately affect us all.

With astute scholarship, the former Bishop of Rochester challenges our response to the threat of radical Islam, as well as discussing complex issues where key Christian values are at stake, including marriage, bioethics, freedom and conscience, and the future of the Anglican Communion.

Bishop Michael believes that it is only through a renewal of the vision of the Bible – brought about by the working of the Holy Spirit for which we as Christ’s followers must contend - that the West will be able to strengthen its own moral and social basis and to counter the challenges being posed from outside.

"It may be that God, in his mercy, will renew and revive the existing denominations or, if not, it may be in fresh ways that the Spirit will blow over parched lands and dry bones. Whichever it is, we must pray urgently for the Spirit’s refreshment and for not only spiritual but moral renewal. The one must lead to the other," he writes.

This book provides a compelling and hope-filled vision of what a living Christian faith, and its comprehensive outworking, can offer society today.

Andrew Symes of Anglican Mainstream says: "Bishop Michael Nazir-Ali offers analysis of current challenges and gives urgently needed advice for Christians and policy-makers in a timely new book."
