A letter to the Home Secretary has been signed by over 40 leading experts from a range of religious backgrounds, warning against the adoption of a proposed definition of Islamophobia. Christian Concern’s Tim Dieppe explains the problems with the definition as outlined in the letter.
The International Association of Athletics Federations recently introduced new rules on testosterone levels for female runners. This rule largely affects those with intersex conditions, such as the 800 meters women’s Olympic champion, Caster Semenya. However, Athletics South Africa is now set to appeal this ruling. Carys Moseley comments on the situation and explains why the ruling is necessary.

Last year, we asked you to participate in a government consultation on amending guidance for independent and faith schools to prevent teachers from defending a biblical view of marriage. Thanks to your action, the government has now amended its final guidance, which allows for Christian schools to continue to speak the truth about marriage and family.

Next week, the case of former magistrate Richard Page will be heard before the Employment Appeal Tribunal. Richard initially faced discipline for saying, in private, that a child does best with a mother and a father. Legal Counsel, Roger Kiska, comments on why this case “represents a watershed moment in the nation’s history.”

Wilberforce Academy Director, Dr Joe Boot, argues that the Church has progressively stepped away from its legacy of cultural apologetics, and – in line with the changing culture – has begun preaching only a gospel message of personal salvation. This has opened the door to a charge of progressivism against Christian values, which only a reformation in the Church can turn around.

Tim Dieppe reviews new book, The Virtue of Nationalism, by Israeli academic Yoram Hazony. Hazony defends the notion of national freedom, as opposed to imperialism, showing how the Bible sets the vision for a world of independent nations. He says the new liberalism of the West is imperialistic and restricting basic freedoms in many nations. Tim concludes that this is an important book, well worth a read.
Professor Walter R. Schumm, author of Wilberforce Publications book Same-Sex Parenting Research, looks at further studies that have been carried out since the book was published and finds that the research backs up his original conclusions: same-sex parenting does more harm to children than heterosexual parenting.

Following the recent controversy over the sacking of rugby player Israel Folau and the punishment of Billy Vunipola, Communications Officer, Rebekah Moffett, comments on how any view that criticises a homosexual lifestyle is increasingly being pushed out of the public square, and concludes that we must uphold Christians’ freedom of speech, even if their views are contrary to modern Western culture.
