Ignorance of MP revealed in confrontation outside Parliament

Printer-friendly version

As MPs prepared to debate the issue of abortion in the House of Commons last week, pro-life group, Abort67 confronted politicians with leaflets and display posters showing graphic images of the effects of abortion on the unborn child.

Campaigner, Ruth Rawlins, challenged Labour MP, John McDonnell, outside Parliament to think about the life of the child in the womb after he repeatedly refused to look at her leaflet and declared that he was a supporter of the right of women to have a child or to abort the baby.

“The shocking thing for me was that Mr McDonnell was prepared to put the fate of a human child in the hands of any individual to decide for themselves whether to kill that child or give birth," said Ruth.

"It was frustrating that he wouldn't engage in conversation or look at our campaign materials. He just kept repeating he was pro-choice".
