In a speech in parliament this week, Edward Leigh MP urged faith schools to "hold their heads up high" and stand for Christian values.
His comments follow the downgrading of some Christian schools by inspectors for failing "British values" tests. “The truth is that real British values are Christian values," he said. "It is the influence of Christianity that made us one of the most tolerant and successful nations on earth. Not this artificial nonsense dreamed up by officials.”
