Dr Peter Saunders responds to TV survey on assisted suicide

Dr Peter Saunders of Care Not Killing has responded to a Channel 5 survey which claims that two in three people believe that the law on assisted suicide should be changed to allow people with Dementia to end their lives prematurely.

Speaking on Channel 5 News, Dr Saunders, who has treated many patients with dementia, said:  "Our worth as human beings does not depend on our mental capacity. Every single human being is incredibly precious, and worthy of the utmost empathy and respect and support and love.

"We should be putting our resources in good research, care and treatment for these most vulnerable of people - not opening the doors to assisted suicide or euthanasia.
