Marriage gap widens between rich and poor

Printer-friendly version

Analysis of family data by Marriage Foundation reveals that there is "an alarming widening of the marriage gap between rich and poor", with children from wealthy families more likely to have married parents.

The report raises concerns that children from poor households are at a disadvantage compared to their better off peers. "Research repeatedly shows that children do best with a married mum and dad. Our government must recognise this," said Andrea Williams.
