Growing Islamic radicalisation risk in prisons

Printer-friendly version

Staff shortages are increasing the risk of 'Islamic radicalisation' in English prisons, the former head of the National Counter Terrorism Security Office has suggested.

Conservative Cabinet ministers Theresa May and Chris Grayling have rejected the claim made by Chris Phillips who recommends separating the most susceptible inmates from potential 'extremists'. John Shelly, a former prisoner, suggests prison authorities have lost control of the situation.
